Pack 101 operates on a transparent, "No-Dues" financial model. Our goal is to eliminate high upfront costs and instead fund our program through community-supported fundraisers.
Because we do not charge annual Pack dues, our success depends on family participation in our seasonal fundraisers (such as our community BBQ sales).
Individual Incentives: Occasionally, specific fundraisers may offer a "Scout Account" option. A portion of the revenue a Scout generates is set aside for their personal use.
Eligible Expenses: Funds in a Scout Account can be used to cover "Pay-to-Play" activity fees, national registration, or even gear and uniforms at the Scout Shop.
Ownership: These funds remain with the Pack's general fund if a Scout leaves the unit, but they provide a powerful way for a Scout to "earn their own way."
When general Pack funds are raised, they are allocated in the following order of importance:
Leader Registration & Training: To maintain our charter and safety standards.
Facility Use Fees: To secure our meeting locations in Roane County.
Activity Supplies & Equipment: Essential gear for Den and Pack meetings.
Event Subsidies: Aiming to cover major events like the Blue & Gold Banquet or the Pinewood Derby.
Physical Awards: Transitioning from award cards to fully funding belt loops and pins.
Full Scholarship: The high-end goal of covering national registration and uniforms for all.
We believe in "Thrifty" management and absolute transparency.
Recording: All financial transactions, including Scout Account balances and activity payments, are recorded and tracked in Scoutbook using the Payment Logs.
Financial Reporting: The Pack will publish financial updates periodically, including a mandatory Year in Review and Annual Planning report to all families.
Reimbursement Discretion: While a digital Reimbursement Request and receipt are required, the Key 3 (Committee Chair, Cubmaster, and Chartered Org Rep) have the discretion to approve reimbursements in cases where "proof" is unavailable or cannot be promptly returned.
For events not yet fully funded by the "Waterfall" model, a specific activity fee will be set.
Confidential Assistance: No Scout will be turned away from an activity due to financial hardship. Please contact the Committee Chairman privately to discuss "scholarship" options.
